Manowar - Discografia

Manowar é uma banda dos Estados Unidos de Heavy Metal, formada em 1980, que tem como líderes o Baixista Joey DeMaio e o Vocalista Eric Adams.

História

A banda surgiu em 1980, quando o Baixista Joey DeMaio, que fazia um projeto com o Vocalista Ronnie James Dio, perdeu a parceria do mesmo, pois Dio foi chamado para atuar como vocalista da banda Black Sabbath, e assim DeMaio correu em busca de uma nova formação. O Manowar lançou o seu primeiro e clássico álbum "Battle Hymnsem 1982". A formação na época consistia em Eric Adams (Vocal), Joey DeMaio (Baixo) - ambos no grupo até hoje - além de Ross The Boss (Guitarra), que permaneceu até o lançamento de "Kings Of Metal 1988" e Donnie Hamzik (Bateria), que gravou o primeiro álbum e só retornou em 2009. Scott Columbus assumiu as baquetas e permaneceu até 2008, embora não tenha gravado o disco "The Triumph Of Steel", gravado por Rhino que fez também atuações ao vivo entre 2008 e 2009.

A banda detém dois títulos no Guiness Book Of Records, como o grupo que conseguiu atingir o som mais alto jamais tocado em palco (sendo o mesmo comparado ao som emitido pela turbina de um Boeing na altura de levantar voo); e o título de "Concerto Mais Longo", com uma duração de cinco horas, na Bulgária, em 2008.

Em 2006, o grupo lançou o DVD "The Day The Earth Shook - The Absolute Power", e em 2007 lançou o Live Kavarna, que contem mais de três horas de show, o mesmo adentrou ao Guiness Book. A banda quebrou depois, o seu próprio recorde, no concerto da Bulgária, que durou cinco horas e um minuto.

Atualidade

A banda prometeu gravar uma série de discos denominada "The Asgard Saga", iniciando com Thunder In The Sky (2009). Em 2010, regravam o clássico de 1982, Battle Hymns, tendo esta regravação, a participação especial de Christopher Lee. O álbum foi renomeado como Battle Hymns MMXI.

Estilo Musical

Uma das características marcantes da banda, é o discurso em prol do verdadeiro Heavy Metal, sua temática épica e lírica que mistura temas como mitologia nórdica, mulheres,velocidade, guerras, honra e glória.

Musicalmente, a banda executa o Heavy Metal tradicional, com influências de Power Metal, além de serem os criadores do estilo True Metal, uma variável do Heavy Metal.

O Manowar se destaca entre as maiores bandas de Metal do mundo e já vendeu mais de 9 milhões de cópias em todo o mundo.
