KROKUS - DISCOGRAFIA

O Krokus é uma das mais influentes bandas do Hard Rock Europeu. Apesar de serem de um país com pouca tradição no Rock (Suíço), eles conquistaram um grande respeito pelo mundo afora, menos no Brasil, onde eles quase não tem público.

A banda é originária de Solothurn, cidade Suíça, contando com Chris Von Rohr (Vocals), Fernando Von Arb (Guitarra), Jörg Nägeli (Baixo), Tommy Kiefer (Guitarra) e Freddy Steady (Bateria). Eles apareceram no cenário por volta de 1974, e faziam um Rock Progressivo daqueles de fazer inveja aos Ingleses. Lançaram dois álbuns que não chamaram quase nenhuma atenção.

Ficou decidido então que a banda mudaria os rumos... Eles lançam o álbum “Pain Killer Aka Pay It In Metal” (78), e o resultado é bem melhor. O estilo lembra um pouco o AC/DC e o Slade. Os discos da banda começam a ser procurados nas lojas. 

Já corria o ano de 1979, quando Chris resolve deixar a banda para investir em novos projetos. A banda começa a procurar por um vocalista, quando o cara que tocava teclado com eles apenas no estúdio, resolve fazer um teste. Marc Storace se torna o vocalista da banda. Sua voz soava como um misto de Brian Johnson (AC/DC) e Biff Bifford (Saxon). 

“Metal Rendez-vous” é lançado em 1980 e faz sucesso em todo mundo (menos aqui, é claro!). Este foi o primeiro disco pela BMG. O conteúdo deste disco era bem mais pesado que os anteriores, e a banda conquista uma legião de fãs. 

Ainda em 80, eles tocam no “Reading Festival” e são aclamados como a nova potência do Rock Europeu. “Hardwire” sai em 81 e mantém a reputação da banda intacta. 

“One Vice At A Time” sai em seguida e mantém a banda nos charts, não só da Europa como de toda a América. 

E falando em América, era lá que o Krokus tinha que consolidar a popularidade, pois o mercado que surgia lá era muito atrativo. 

“Headhunter” foi editado e apesar de trazer o som no mesmo estilo, dava para perceber que a banda estava se americanizando. 

Neste período a banda começou a sofrer transformações, Tommy Kiefer foi substituído pelo seu roadie Mark Kohler e Steve Pace assumiu as baquetas no lugar de Freedy Steady. 

“Headhunter” alcançou a 25º posição nos charts, mas as mudanças na banda continuaram. 

Foi a fase mais confusa da carreira. Para se ter idéia, até o ex-vocalista Chris Von Rohr retornou por um breve período, mas ele veio para tocar baixo. 

Em meio a toda aquela confusão saiu “The Blitz” (84), que apesar de ter fugido um pouco ao estilo da banda, alcançou a 31º posição nos charts americanos. 

No ano seguinte, a banda se arrumou. Tommy Keiser (Ex-Cobra) se tornou o baixista, e Mark Kohler, que não havia participado do último disco, retornou ao posto. 

Em 86 o Krokus jogou mais um álbum na praça, num estilo novamente americanizado. “Change of Adress” trazia um cover de Alice Cooper, talvez visando puxar um saco dos Americanos. A média parece que deu certo, pois o disco teve boa repercussão e foi lançado inclusive aqui no país do samba. 

Aproveitando que a maré estava boa, ainda em 86, eles lançam mais um disco. “Alive n´Screamin” foi o último disco com a BMG. 

O próximo álbum seria batizado de “Heart Attack” e foi editado em 88 pela MCA. 

Como o álbum não rendeu o que o selo queria, a banda partiu para a Phonag, onde lançou três discos: “Stampede” (1991), “To Rock or Not To Be” (1995), “Round 13” (1999). Devemos ressaltar que nestes últimos discos, a banda já não contava mais com seu idealizador Fernando Von Arb e o line up contava com músicos totalmente desconhecidos que não duraram muito. 

Em 2000, a banda solta “The definitive Collection”. Como o próprio nome diz, deveria ser a coletânea definitiva da banda. 

Com a entrada do novo milênio, Storace e Von Arb unem as forças novamente e lançam o álbum “Rock The Block”, que satisfaz as expectativas. Eles começam a fazer uma grande turnê. Foram acompanhados pelos músicos Tony Castell (b), Patrick Aeby (b) e Dominique Favez (g).
